PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a special polymer having a high-molecular weight or a high degree of branching in a highly efficient manner without deteriorating the same, by uniformly plasticizing and melting the special polymer having a high-molecular weight or a high degree of branching by a pair of kneading screws even if the number of rotations of the kneading screws is low. SOLUTION: A material to be kneaded having a high-molecular weight or a high degree of branching and easily deteriorative is stepwise supplied into a pair of left and right kneading chambers formed in a barrel 3 in a mutually communicating state and kneaded and melted in a plurality of kneading zones 15 and 16 formed to a pair of left and right kneading screws in an axially separated state over two stages while fed to the downstream side by a pair of the left and right kneading screws inserted into the respective kneading chambers in a freely rotatable manner.
