PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crosslinking agent for open crosslinking which can obtain a crosslinked rubber having not only good surface properties but also good rubber properties such as tensile strength and compression set, and an open crosslinking method using the same. SOLUTION: The open crosslinking agent is composed of t-hexylcumyl peroxide, and the open crosslinking method comprises mixing the crosslinking agent with a rubber composition for crosslinking, and then subjecting the resulting mixture to heat treatment. In the above open crosslinking method, the rubber component present in the rubber composition for crosslinking is at least one kind to be selected from the group consisting of an (ethylene-propylene-diene) terpolymer, an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer rubber, an ethylene-propylene rubber, a natural rubber, a butadiene rubber, and a styrene-butadiene rubber.
