PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which reduces the difference in the extent of formation of crepe by a fluctuation in film thicknesses and makes it possible to obtain a matte coating film by the uniform crepe. SOLUTION: The method for forming the matte coating film comprises applying a primer coating material (A) containing a secondary amine and/or ternary amine of a boiling point 30 to 300°C at 1 to 50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. resin solid content in the coating material and drying the coating film by heating at need, then applying a finish coating material (B) consisting of a hydroxy group-containing organic resin, an amino resin and an acid catalyst on the primer coating film and curing the coating film by heating.
