PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work carrier for a machine tool which prevents noises and vibrations from occurring by adjusting position of a rack without cost rise. SOLUTION: The work carrier for a machine tool comprises a frame member 10, a support member 11, and a drive machinery 7. The frame member 10 with a rectangular cross section lies from a work machining position B to a work carry-in position A. A work gripping mechanism 12 is embedded on the support member 11, and from which the movable frame member 10 is hung through a linear guide 27. The drive machinery 7 makes the support member 11 shuttle between the work machining position B and a work carry-in position A by rotated-driving a pinion gear 33 which gears a rack 30 laid parallel to the linear guide 27 on the frame member 10. On the work carrier, the linear guide 27 is laid on an upper wall surface of the frame member 10 (one wall surface) 10a, and the rack 30 is laid on an front wall surface 10b (the other wall surface) which is adjacent to the upper wall surface 10a so that the rack 30 is adjustable in vertical direction to the linear guide 27.
