PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for reducing the elution of a long-chain amine in high-purity water which can effectively reduce the elution of a long-chain amine in high-purity water extensively used, e.g. in production plants for electronic components such as semiconductors and liquid crystals, water for medicines, and nuclear power plants and can supply high-purity water having very high purity. SOLUTION: This method is employed for reducing the elution of a long-chain amine in high-purity water from a high-purity water preparation apparatus using a separation membrane includes the step of previously washing the separation membrane with washing water to remove the long-chain amine contained in the separation membrane. The apparatus for reducing the elution of a long-chain amine in high- purity water removes a long-chain amine contained in a separation membrane by washing, and includes: a tank for storing washing water; a means for delivering the washing water from the tank; a separation membrane washing part in which the separation membrane is disposed; a means for returning the washing water after the washing of the separation membrane to the tank; and a means for removing or decomposing the long-chain amine eluted during washing from the separation membrane.
