PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which dissolves and removes organic matters, etc., stuck to clothes and a washing tub without using a detergent. SOLUTION: The washing machine includes: a housing 2 with a clothes throw-in port; a lid 3 for opening/closing the clothing throw-in port; the washing tub 6 for washing the clothes thrown-in from the clothing throw-in port; and a vacuum UV radiation generating device for emitting a vacuum UV radiation to the washing tub 6.
