PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when analog video signals are converted into digital video signals, a complicated manual adjustment is required for a clock phase or the clock phase is corrected automatically in the state of an A/D-converted reference signal, by preinserting a reference signal into the analog video signals. SOLUTION: The clock phase can be corrected automatically to an appropriate clock phase, based only on the information of the digital video signals by bringing the clock phase closer to a more appropriate clock phase, by comparing the number of edges in one frame period before the clock phase is shifted by one with the number of edges in one frame period, after the clock phase is shifted by one and computing a suitable clock phase by means of a microcomputer.
