PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve construction accuracy in constructing a building by connecting horizontal members with accurate alignment of the mutual space and height of the horizontal members to be connected. SOLUTION: In this horizontal member connecting structure for connecting the horizontal members 2, 2 formed of shape steel, through a connecting fitting 3, a positioning cylinder body 10 fittable to a tapered hole 6 provided in the horizontal member 2 is formed at the peripheral edge part of the tapered hole 6 provided in the connecting fitting 3, and the connecting fitting 3 is bolted to one horizontal member to be connected. The connecting fitting 3 and the other horizontal member 2 are bolted while fitting and supporting the tapered hole 6 of the other horizontal member 2 to the positioning cylinder body 10 of the connecting fitting 3.
