PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the regeneration of activated carbon without using a regeneration furnace. SOLUTION: A storage container 11 for the activated carbon in a water treatment apparatus 10 for removing impurities through the activated carbon is provided with a water inlet 16, a water outlet 17, and a gas outlet 21. The storage container 11 for the activated carbon is equipped with a mesh 12, and then the mesh 12 is filled thereon with the activated carbon 13, and further a heater 18 is provided such that it is embedded in the activated carbon 13. In a normal operation, the water treatment is carried out by supplying wasted water or the like to the activated carbon 13. When the removing capacity of the activated carbon 13 for removing the impurities is reduced, water feeding to the activated carbon 13 is interrupted, and the activated carbon 13 is heated with the heater 18. Thus, the activated carbon 13 is regenerated while being stored in the storage container 11 for the activated carbon. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
