PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily provide electronic data. SOLUTION: An information providing system that can transmit/receive the electronic data from a server with which the electronic data are registered has: a distribution means for distributing the electronic data registered with the server; a connection means for connecting a portable device possessed by an individual to a communication network for communicating electronic information; a transmission means for transmitting information, for identifying the individual, that is stored in the portable device; an authentication means that receives the information for identifying the individual that has been transmitted by the transmission means and makes a judgment whether the user can use the distribution means; and a registration means that receives a code or ID information required for acquiring the electronic data by the user using the distribution means and registers the code or the ID information with the portable device possessed by the user.
