摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide graphite particles which have similar battery characteristics such as initial charge-discharge efficiency to the characteristics of graphite particles obtained by using a dispersing medium of an organic solvent even if obtained by using a dispersing medium of an aqueous solvent, when a negative electrode of a lithium ion secondary battery is formed by mixing graphite particles obtained by heating mesophase pitch, with a binder and the dispersing medium. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of the graphite particles, in the surfaces of graphite precursor particles (such as mesophase microbeads), a different kind of particles (such as silica) having a smaller average particle diameter than that of the graphite precursor particles and harder than the graphite precursor particles are buried by applying mechanochemical treatment using, for example, a compression shearing dry powder composing device or the like, and then the obtained precursor particles are graphitized by vaporizing, sublimating or decomposing the buried hard particles.
