PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate various problems caused by the deformation of the electrode shape of the discharge lamp. SOLUTION: In the drive control of a discharge lamp of AC lighting type, when the lamp current IL is at the upper limit value ILthu or more of the allowable range, the lamp current IL is temporarily increased and when it is at the lower limit value ILthl or less, the drive frequency is temporarily decreased.
