PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely assemble a head shape of a slot die coater. SOLUTION: An upstream side block 41 and a downstream side block 42 of which each of the length of La, Lb from a land to a back surface is equivalent are placed on a jig 60 and a thickness gauge of which the thickness T is 50μm is inserted between the downstream side block 42 and the jig 60. Both the blocks 41, 42 are pushed by a pressurizing device 61 to fix them to the jig 60. Then, both the blocks 41, 42 are linked with each other. The temperature of the blocks 41, 42 at the assembling is adjusted to be approximately 22°C when the temperature of the coating solution at the coating is set to 22°C. The coating is applied after the length LO of the over-bite is measured by an optical microscope. The coating is applied at 50 m/min so that the wet film thickness of the coating becomes 5μm. The coating solution is a solution of a liquid crystal compound in methyl ethyl ketone using cellurose triacetate to previously form an oriented film layer on the surface as a web. The degree of reduced pressure at the coating is 1,600 Pa. The coated film obtained has good surface appearance without step-like non-uniformity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
