PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine facilitating the throw-in and take-out of the washing and improving rinsing efficiency. SOLUTION: This washing machine is provided with a top panel 2 having an openable/closable upper cover 3 disposed at the upper part of an outer case 1; a water tank 10 supported in a vibration isolating manner inside the outer case 1; a washing and dehydrating basket rotatably journaled into the water tank 10 and charged with the washing 23 and a detergent; a pulsator 12 rotatably disposed at the inner bottom part of the washing and dehydrating basket 11; and a drain valve 22 for draining wash water in the washing and dehydrating basket 11. The upper cover 3 is formed with a recessed part supplied with water, in a position opposed to the opening part of the washing and dehydrating basket 11, and a plurality of through holes 8 are bored in the bottom face of the recessed part to form a sprinkling apparatus 4, and water is sprinkled and supplied to the washing 23 in the washing and dehydrating basket 11 from the through holes of the sprinkling apparatus 4.
