INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM PROVIDED WITH ROUTE SWITCHING FUNCTION IN CASE OF FAULT, AND INFORMATION TERMINAL THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system in which a job is continuously carried out while cooperating with a high-order host computer via an external network such as the Internet particularly even when a fault occurs, and to provide an information terminal therefor in the information processing system and the information terminal therefor.

SOLUTION: In the information processing system in which the information terminal communicates with an information processor accommodated in an external IP network via a main line for operation or a sub-line in the case of fault provided in a router, the information terminal has a communication fault detecting means for detecting a communication fault at an application level during the communication with the information processor and a line switch instructing means for instructing line switching from the main line to the sub-line to the router in response to the detection of the communication fault, and the router has a line switching means for switching a communication route between the information terminal and the information processor to a communication route from the main line through the sub-line according to the line switching instruction based on the fault.
