PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative-electrode material for non-aqueous electrolyte cells, which has excellent discharge capacity, an outstanding cycle life, and good discharge rate characteristics, and in which the maximum capacity can be reached by the minimum number of times of electricity charging/discharging. SOLUTION: The negative-electrode material has a composition expressed by a formula of A<SB>a</SB>M<SB>b</SB>T<SB>c</SB>X<SB>d</SB>Z<SB>e</SB>, and includes an alloy which consists of an amorphous phase substantially.
