<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user authentication device for a vehicle, which carries out authentication of the vehicle user who has left the vehicle without manual operation of the user. <P>SOLUTION: The user authentication device comprises a registered image storing section 29 for storing therein a facial image registered beforehand, an approach sensor 23 for detecting that the subject approaches the vehicle, a camera 35 for electrically fetching the image of the subject, an image comparing section 31 for comparing the facial image stored in the registered image storing section 29 with the image of the subject taken by the camera, and a vehicle control section 11 for controlling vehicle equipment installed in the vehicle, depending on a result of the comparison by the image comparing section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
