IMAGE SIGNAL TRANSMISSION APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring efficiency to the transmission by suppressing an amount of information indicative of relative positions of adjacent pixels to pixels to be transmitted.

SOLUTION: A vector conversion section 4 calculates difference vectors between a target pixel and respective object vectors and gives the difference vectors to an object evaluation section 5. A local decoder 31 performs local decoding together with a second object pixel while referring to a difference vector table 7 and gives a difference value e of local decoding to an object evaluation section 5. An object evaluation section 5 evaluates object pixels from the difference value e of local decoding including the second object pixel and determines pixels to be transmitted among the object pixels on the basis of the result of evaluation. A multiplexer section 10 multiplexes a scan direction s of the pixels to be transmitted when viewed from the target pixel with an index signal i of a representative vector and transmission data are extracted at an output terminal 11.
