PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new optically active adamantane derivative which can be a raw material for an agrochemical and a medicine, and a raw material for a ferroelectric liquid crystal, or the like, and to provide a method for producing the adamantane derivative. SOLUTION: The optically active adamantane derivative is represented by formulas (I-a), (I-b) and (I-c) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is an alkyl group, phenyl group, naphthyl group or a heteroatom-containing aromatic group; R<SP>3</SP>is a halogen atom, hydroxy group, an alkoxy group, an acyl group, an alkylmercapto group or an alkylamino group; R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>are each an alkyl group; and (*) represents an asymmetric carbon].
