PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric water heater capable of reducing the power consumption, dispensing with the attention to hot water or steam when pouring water, and preventing excessive supply of water. SOLUTION: This electric water heater has a water heating container 1, a heating element 3 for heating the liquid 2 in the water heating container, and a water storage tank 20 for storing the liquid to be supplied to the water heating container. A feed port 26 from the water storage tank to the water heating container is provided in a position lower than the upper end of the water heating container to pour the liquid in the water storage tank to the water boiling container through this feed port. According to such a structure, since only a necessary quantity of liquid is heated and heat-retained in the water heating container, and the remaining water is stored in the water storage tank 20, the power consumption is reduced, and the attention to hot water or steam when pouring water is dispensed with.
