PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device requiring a light steering/ retention load even when frequent and abrupt steering wheel operation is required. SOLUTION: A drive controlling means 21b determines which of an input shaft 32 or an output shaft 33 dynamically has an advantage, from angle speed and the like. At the time of driver input, not disturbance, and when input amount to the input shaft 32 is not less than a specified value, a motor 6 is driven to generate auxiliary force larger than auxiliary force obtained by a normal assist map in a forward assist direction.
