PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester-based thermoplastic resin foam capable of exhibiting various characteristics obtained from a mixture of a polyester-based thermoplastic resin as a principal material forming the skeleton, a water-soluble bubble-forming material and a water-soluble polymer, and to provide a method for producing the polyester-based thermoplastic resin foam. SOLUTION: In the foam obtained by water-extraction method from a heated mixture of a thermoplastic resin, water-soluble bubble-forming material and a water-soluble polymer, a polyester-based thermoplastic resin 12 is used as the thermoplastic resin, and a substance thermally stable at the heat melting temperature of the resin 12 is used as the water-soluble bubble-forming material and the water-soluble polymer as well.
