PURPOSE: A system and a method for operating a clutch of a vehicle is provided to quickly intercept power and slowly transmit power by controlling the pressure of a pressure plate stepwise and by rapidly increasing the pressure in intercepting power and slowly reducing the pressure in transmitting the power. CONSTITUTION: A system for operating a clutch of a vehicle comprises a sensing unit(20) sensing displacement of a clutch pedal(10); an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,30) gradually supplying hydraulic pressure to a pressure plate(50) according to a signal of the sensing unit, in intercepting power, and then rapidly supplying the hydraulic pressure at a predetermined point of time and slowly collecting the hydraulic pressure supplied to the pressure plate, according to the signal of the sensing unit and a signal of an engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute), in transmitting power; an operating unit(40) supplying and collecting the hydraulic pressure to the pressure plate according to a signal of the ECU; and the pressure plate pushed toward a flywheel by the supply of the hydraulic pressure from the operating unit or separated from the flywheel.
