PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the display characteristics of the entire screen are held uniformly by applying homogeneous alignment properties to a liquid crystal to the edge of the screen.

SOLUTION: A cover is provided over the surroundings of a display part, and dummy color filters are arranged on the counter substrate of areas corresponding to the cover.
