PURPOSE: A multi air conditioner for simultaneous heating and cooling and a control method of the same are provided to allow a distributor to be easily installed by reducing weight of the distributor. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner includes an outdoor unit(A) installed outdoors, and having a compressor(1), an outdoor heat exchanger(2), and an outdoor fan(2a) blowing air to the outdoor heat exchanger therein; a plurality of indoor units(C) installed in rooms, and having electronic expansion valves(61a,61b,61c) and indoor heat exchangers(62a,62b,62c) installed therein, respectively; a distributor(B) placed between the outdoor unit and the indoor units to selectively guide refrigerant introduced from the outdoor unit to the indoor units depending on operating state; a tube unit placed in the outdoor unit, and having the compressor and the outdoor heat exchanger connected to a part thereof to guide refrigerant discharged from a discharge part of the compressor to the distributor differently depending on the operating state, and guiding refrigerant passing the indoor units and introduced into the distributor to a suction part of the compressor; and a gas-liquid separator(3) placed on a rear end tube of the outdoor heat exchanger to divide refrigerant discharged from the outdoor heat exchanger into gaseous refrigerant and liquid refrigerant at cooling-focused simultaneous operation.
