<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable only an object such as one being a hindrance to the operation of an opening/closing apparatus to be detected in a non-contact state. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging means obtains an image of a prescribed area throughout at least one side of an opening/closing means which operates so as to open/close an opening. A detection means detects the object which enters the prescribed area by comparing the images different in imaging times from each other among the images obtained by the imaging means. When the opening/closing means is in a closing state in the case of the detection of the object by the detection means, the operation of the opening/closing means is stopped.
