<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve probability of matching, and to accurately compute parallax. <P>SOLUTION: A stereo matching unit 8 specifies an image range PBij as an origin of correlation in one pick-up image, and specifies an image range to be considered as a destination of correlation of the specified image range in the other pick-up image. Correlation between the image range specified as the origin of correlation and the image range specified to be considered as a destination of correlation is evaluated.
