<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load related to snapshot management of a host and to speed up a storage system. <P>SOLUTION: The host computer 101 transmits, when the formation of a snapshot is desired, an instruction showing a snapshot creation request to the storage device, and the control part 104 of the storage device 103 reads user data from a user data area 107 and stores the read user data in a snapshot area 108, whereby the snap shot is created. According to this, the load for the snapshot creation can be dispersed to the host 101 and the storage device 103.
