The foot (1) has a seat (4) for the root holder (7), e.g. plant pot, so that a fixed connection is provided between the foot and seat with respect to movement in the horizontal direction. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the combination for growing plants, in which the plants are first of all allowed to grow inside the root holder without the foot and then root holder with the plants inside is connected to the foot and the plants are allowed to grow further.
