PURPOSE: A transport agnostic authentication method for authenticating a telephone number of a wireless device for requesting service is provided to authenticate the wireless device over a carrier network by using different data transport methods available over the carrier network using different parts of an authentication process. CONSTITUTION: A receiving process receives a request for service from a wireless device over a first data transport method available over a carrier network(311). A reading process reads a telephone number from the request for service(312). A dispatching process dispatches a response to the request to the wireless device over a second data transport method available over the carrier network(313). At this time, the second data transport method uses the telephone number for addressing the wireless device.
