PURPOSE: A device for controlling the volume of an airbag cushion is provided to prevent a passenger from being injured by an airbag by properly controlling the inflation volume of the airbag cushion according to the weight and position of the passenger. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the volume of an airbag cushion is composed of an airbag housing(30), an inflator(31) installed at the inner rear of the airbag housing, a cushion(33) installed at the inner front of the airbag housing and inflated by gas, a tether(34) sewn on the inside of the cushion to control the volume of the cushion, a tether control unit(40) connected to the tether and controlling the length of the tether, a control unit controlling the tether control unit, and sensors. The sensors detect the weight and position of a passenger, and transmit the detected signals to the control unit.
