<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient payment service with high reliability and low operation load of a payer at low costs. <P>SOLUTION: This payment system performs a payment by use of a computer network and a portable communication device carried by the payer. This system comprises a bill-related message transmitting device and a shared payment processor. The portable communication device has a message receiving part for receiving a bill-related message, a payment processing communication part for communicating with the shared payment processor, and a payment response part for transmitting a bill or bill identification information, according to the operation of the payer corresponding to the received bill-related message, to the shared processor through the payment processing communication part.
