PURPOSE: A method for measuring low concentration of BOD by using a microbial fuel cell type BOD apparatus using low nutritional requirement and electrochemically active microorganisms is provided, thereby stably and correctly measuring low density of BOD. CONSTITUTION: A microbial fuel cell type BOD apparatus using low nutritional requirement and electrochemically active microorganisms comprises a BOD measuring portion, an electronic current detecting portion, and a recording portion recording a change of the electronic current detected, wherein the BOD measuring portion comprises an anode portion, a cathode portion, a conduction medium and an ion exchange membrane between the anode and cathode. The method for measuring low concentration of BOD comprises adding waste water as a source of low nutritional requirement and electrochemically active microorganisms and glucose and glutamic acid as substrates into the cathode portion and culturing them.
