<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sealing the cell of a honeycomb structure by which a sealed portion having an optional depth and/or shape can exactly and relatively easily be formed, and to provide a method for manufacturing a honeycomb sealant. <P>SOLUTION: According to this sealing method, in the honeycomb structure 1 having a plurality of the cells 3 which are comparted by the partition walls 2 and penetrate in an axial direction, the cell 3 is sealed by inserting thereinto a sealing member 6 molded in a predetermined form, and then bonding the member 6 and its peripheral partition wall 3 to form the sealed portion. The manufacturing method for the honeycomb sealed structure includes a process for sealing at least a part of the cells of the honeycomb structure by the above sealing method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
