OPTICAL FIBER DRAWING TOWER

摘要

PURPOSE: An optical fiber drawing tower equipped with a sealing tube between coating applicator and hardening device is provided to improve free radical reaction and hardening of coated layers by preventing the coated layers of an optical fiber from exposing to air. CONSTITUTION: The optical drawing tower contains the parts of: a furnace(220) for melting an optical fiber preform(210) and drawing optical fibers; a coating applicator(240) for coating the circumference of optical fibers drawn from the melting furnace with liquid type thermosetting resin or UV-hardened resin; a hardening device(260) for hardening the coated layers of optical fibers; a sealing tube, having a hollow cylindrical shape, between coating applicator and hardening device for preventing the coated layers of an optical fiber from exposing to air, wherein the sealing tube contains a N2 purge unit(251) and has N2 atmosphere.
