<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data input device and a user interface system capable of integrating a shortcut function easily, precisely and quickly selecting menu items and inputting letters and an instruction with a pointing function having a freedom degree of specifying arbitrary coordinates, and linking the both functions without any interruption. <P>SOLUTION: A two-dimensional movement range of a fingertip is divided into two partial regions, a tactile sense or an inner force sense stimulus is introduced in one partial region for clearly distinguishing a track guiding the movement of the fingertip and the finger tip position, so as to realize the function (shortcut function) easily, precisely and quickly specifying the two positions by the guide and the stimulus and linking the information inputting the combination of the specified two positions. In the other partial region, the fingertip is prevented from being restricted by the track or from receiving the tactile sense or the inner force sense stimulus so as to realize the function (pointing function) specifying the arbitrary coordinates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
