<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological treatment method by which treating water suitable for anaerobic ammonia oxidation can be obtained and to provide a device therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A biological treatment device 10 is provided with an aerobic cylinder 22 and an anaerobic cylinder 24 in the inside of a treatment tank 16. Air is fed to the aerobic cylinder 22, and oxygen-free gas is fed to the anaerobic cylinder 24. Thus, an aerobic region is formed in the inside of the aerobic cylinder 22, and an anaerobic region is formed in the inside of the anaerobic cylinder 24. Further, by the feed of the air and oxygen-free gas, the water to be treated circulates so as to rise in the inside of the aerobic cylinder 22 and the inside of the anaerobic cylinder 24 and descends on the outside of the aerobic cylinder 22 and the anaerobic cylinder 24.
