<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ecologically friendly piano, where the sympathetic sounds of piano strings and a frame can be heard directly from the sight of a performer, weight is light and depth is narrow, a sound level can be adjusted, and a support is not required. <P>SOLUTION: Soundboards 4a, 4b are vertically installed in a panel shape at the upper and lower sides of a keyboard 10 on a front. A cutout 11 is provided in the gap of the keyboard. A solid, thin crosspiece 14 passes through the cutout 11. The upper soundboard 4a is connected to the lower soundboard 4b by the crosspiece for forming one soundboard 4 having large area. A bridge 6 and the soundboard 4 are bridged by a vibration transmission member 16. Thin, high columns 7a, 7b are provided at the front and rear sides of the frame. A wide, strip frame 7c having an angle being nearly right-angled to a plane is arranged around the frame. A reinforcing member 7d is further provided at a rear side. The support is not used. The frame uses a hard material and has a bridge stopper that is resonant with string vibration and is thin, light, and strong. The sound level can be adjusted by connecting the bridge 6 to the soundboard 4 and by canceling the connection, thus providing the piano capable of producing clear sounds from the front. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
