<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste containing uranium which attains the volume reduction of the waste while decontaminating nuclear fuel substances such as uranium and plutonium generated from nuclear-related facilities by separating them from waste of steel-base metal such as carbon steel and stainless steel containing them. <P>SOLUTION: Spent nuclear fuel (uranium) 6 which is intermingled with a hull 5, a stainless-steel based metal, is separated from the stainless-steel based metal.
