<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a service area monitoring system in a CDMA radio communication system which can confirm the radio quality in a service area in real time without using a measuring machine for exclusive use. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone 1 generates a message at the time of H/O, when it exists in the boundary of the service area in the CDMA radio communication system. The message to be generated includes "Ec/No" and "RSCP" as a parameter for showing the radio quality. The portable telephone 1 transmits a service area information signal in which positional information is added to the generated message. The service area information signal transmitted from the portable telephone 1 is inputted to a service area monitoring device 6 via a radio base station 2 and a base station controller 5.
