<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter array which has a sufficient wavelength selection width and can be manufactured at low cost, a spatial optical modulating device, and a projection type display device. <P>SOLUTION: The color filter array is constituted by laminating a plurality of dielectric layers 31, 32, 33 and 34 which have different refractive indexes along the thickness and forming step surfaces 35r, 35g, 35b, and 36r, 36g, 36b which varies in layer thickness with places in stages on first dielectric layers 31 and 33 having at least two or more layers among the plurality of dielectric layers. The layer thickness is so set that light having a specific wavelength is reflected in the one dielectric layer and transmitted over resonance at specified positions of the first dielectric layer 31 or 33. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
