PURPOSE: An electronic settlement system using fingerprint recognition of a mobile communication terminal, and a method thereof are provided to conveniently and safely confirm user's identity in electronic commerce. CONSTITUTION: A user of a mobile communication terminal turns on the mobile communication terminal(301). A microprocessor of the mobile communication terminal initializes hardware, and then initializes devices for executing a wireless network(302,303). A fingerprint input mode is selected through a fingerprint input mode switch or key-input unit of the terminal, and fingerprint information is inputted through a fingerprint sensor(304). The fingerprint information is compared with fingerprint information of a fingerprint database to request electronic settlement(305,306). And then, the processed data is transmitted to an authentication system. The authentication system judges whether the fingerprint information of the user is identical to fingerprint stored in a fingerprint data server(307). If so, a success is displayed on a display unit of the mobile communication terminal(308). If not, a failure is displayed on the display unit of the mobile communication terminal(309).
