<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display unit with power generating function for enhancing decorativeness and multifunctionality of a timepiece, etc. <P>SOLUTION: In this display unit, a linear polarization having an easy transmission axis and an orthogonal vibrating plane arranges in piles both reflection type polarizers 9, 10 to be reflected and a liquid crystal cell 39 encapsulating a liquid crystal 34 between a first substrate 33 and a second substrate 35, uses the reflection type polarizers 9, 10 and the liquid crystal cell 39 to form a liquid crystal display panel 30, and disposes a solar cell 41 as a power generating functional element on the downside (backside) of the liquid crystal display panel 30 to be formed. Also this display unit is provided with functions to indicate a notice of electricity generated or electric loadings or decrease in electric loadings for the solar cell 41 and control incident radiation volume to the solar cell 41 with the reflection type polarizers 9, 10 and the liquid crystal cell 39. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
