<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of frame synchronization of video streams at a destination at which the streams are processed, the destinations being linked to sources of the video streams by an asynchronous packet switching network. <P>SOLUTION: The method relates to a synchronization method for synchronizing the phase of a local image synchronization signal generator with the phase of a reference image synchronizing signal generator. The synchronization method includes the steps of: frequency-synchronizing the local and reference clocks; transmitting, by using a reference video data processor, an image timing packet for providing reference image synchronization data indicating the difference in timing measured between a time when the image timing packet is transmitted to the asynchronous packet switching network and a time when the reference image synchronizing signal is generated to a local video data processor via the asynchronous packet switching network on the basis of the reference clock; and controlling, by using the local processor, the timing of the production of the local image synchronizing signal on the basis of the reference image synchronization data and the time of arrival of the timing packet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
