The insert has a metallic shell (1) and a polyethylene filling (14) in an inner space (4) of the shell. The filling is obtained by thermo-compression of a polymer in the space followed by machining to arrange a receptacle (18) for a prosthetic head. The shell has, on the periphery of the space, a lever (7) for avoiding extraction of the filling, and bosses and depressions for avoiding rotation of the filling. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an articular prosthesis.
