PURPOSE: A backlight assembly is provided to enhance availability of the sidelight of a light source, thereby obtaining high brightness of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) by using a multilateral prism sheet having a convexo-concave surface. CONSTITUTION: A light source is installed at the side of a light guide plate(2). A prism sheet is disposed over the light guide plate and a multilateral prism sheet(6) is disposed under the light guide plate. A reflective sheet(1) is disposed under the multilateral prism sheet. The sidelight of the light source is reflected on multilateral prism sheet. The multilateral prism sheet has a convexo-concave surface, which makes the light exit angle getting large.
