PURPOSE: A television is provided to achieve improved user convenience by automatically controlling the sound volume of the television in accordance with environmental noises. CONSTITUTION: A television comprises a tuner(2) for detecting a specific broadcast signal from the signals received through an antenna(1) by using a micro processor(8); a sound detection unit(4) for detecting a sound signal by the tuner; a sound processing unit(5) for processing the signal detected by the sound detection unit, outputting the processed signal, and performing an intermediate amplification for the sound signal in accordance with the control of the micro processor; a sound amplifying unit(6) for amplifying and outputting the signal output from the sound processing unit through a speaker(7); a noise sensor(9) for sensing environmental noises; the micro processor for controlling the sound processing unit by comparing the preset sound volume level and the noise signal input from the noise sensor; and a memory(10) for storing sound volume control values corresponding to levels of external noises.
