PURPOSE: An LCD device is provided to prevent contrast from being deteriorated due to scattering of a color filter layer by forming the color filter layer at a first polarizing plate or a second polarizing plate not the inside of a liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION: In an LCD device, a color filter layer(124) is positioned outside a first polarizing plate(140) or a second polarizing plate(142) fixed to a liquid crystal panel to improve contrast. In this case, natural light emitted from a back light is scattered by the color filter layer and then enters the polarizing plate, thereby preventing the polarized state from being damaged. Also, since the light polarized through the second polarizing plate is displayed on a screen after being scattered, it does not affect the intensity of light. Therefore, deterioration of contrast due to scattering of the color filter layer is not caused.
