PURPOSE: A method for setting a masking block is provided to display a masking block suitable for a specific object abnormally magnified by a zooming operation by using an offset value corresponding to a distance between the optical axis of a lens and the central axis of a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) when privacy masking for the specific object is carried out. CONSTITUTION: A method for setting a mask block includes a step of detecting a distance between the central axis of a CCD and the optical axis of a lens, and a step of displaying a masking block with reference to a previously stored offset value in response to a picture control ratio(S11). The method further includes a step of comparing the coordinate value of the start/end point of the masking block automatically magnified and displayed as a zoom lens is shifted from a wide end state to a tele-end state with the coordinate value of the start/end point of the masking block varied by a user, setting the difference between the coordinate values as an offset value, and storing the difference in a non-volatile memory(S16).
