<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material, on the base material of which a hydrophilic surface can be formed by a low cost coating and the performances such as the latitude of water quantity, a non-image part hard to be stained and a blanket hard to be stained as a printing plate of which are equal to or more than those of the aluminum grained printing plate and which has enough plate wear resistance, and a printing method, in which the printing plate material is employed and a board-the-press development is included. <P>SOLUTION: The printing plate material has, on its base material, constituent layers, one of which includes a material A selected from a group consisting of polyglycosamine or a derivative of polyglycosamine.
